I like this girl but she likes my friend what should i do HELP ME OUT!!?

i like this girl and im a senior shes a sophmore. she likes my friend who is also a senior. i talk to her on AIM quite a bit. i ask her how her day was and just let her talk a bit. i talk about my friend who she likes and i tell her about him and stuff. i do that to start convo. she likes him and he never had a girlfriend so it would never work out. im trying to become friends with her to if it dont work out with them im there to pick up the pieces. any tips on how i can in the process get her to like me? or just think about me or something?
